Tourism wants to jump start Bayahíbe this year

LA ALTAGRACIA.- The Tourism Ministry will implement a project this year to develop a tourism enclave in the Bayahíbe municipal district, in this province.
The initiative is part of the Territorial Ordering Plan, which includes the reconstruction of the beach and improvement of the docks.
Manuel Nolasco, Tourism vice minister in Yuma-Bayahíbe, said the plan will spur the growth of quality tourism and benefit the population. It addition, the country’s biggest movement of tourist in excursions is in Bayahíbe.
The official said the project includes the construction of a pier, and to regulate the activities of the many boats and companies that deal with tourists, and also decontaminate the most beautiful beach which we have.
Although as many as 3,000 tourists visit Saona Island daily, a new wharf would make the ecotourism and cultural destination more attractive, Nolasco said.
He said Bayahibe, Dominicus, Boca de Yuma and San Rafael del Yuma form part of a tourism enclave where in addition to Saona and Catalina islands, has important natural resources such as the National Park of the East, the country’s most visited.

The Ministry of Environment demolishes a nautical club

BREAKING NEWS: BAYAHIBE. - A nautical club which had been built up on a prohibited sector of Bayahíbe, near to the Dominicus hotel, in the province of La Altagracia, started to be demolished this Wednesday by the Secretariat of Environment (SEMARENA).
The order of demolition was carried out by the provincial direction of SEMARENA in La Romana, by Andy Omar Johnson, coordinator of the Yuma area.
The civil servant said that in the documents sent, the representative of the infrastructure is Engineer Martín Concepción, of the Investment Company Blue Eges.
Two constructions of three floors had been built up on a beach area in an irregular way.
SEMARENA indicated that in spite of the request to cease work, the persons in charge of these buildings on the contrary accelerated the process.

The Basketball Association of La Romana in tournament preparation
To have a spectacle of quality
BREAKING NEWS: LA ROMANA -. The Association of Basketball of La Romana (Asobaro) is preparing the Superior Tournament, which will count on the participation of six teams.
The engineer Israel Altagracia and the journalist Raymond Tejeda, president and secretary of the Association, stated that the championship was planned to start on Friday March 6 in the Polideportivo Eleoncio Mercedes, head quarter of the event.
They said that the Association was forming the Organizing Committee of the contest which will take place with the participation of the following clubs: Tribu de Quisqueya, Ramón Marrero Aristy (Savica), Virgilio Castillo (Chola), San Martín de Porres, Juan Pablo Duarte and Máximo Gómez.
The Association is making the preparation and the organization and the clubs began the formation of their teams in order to have the best players and to be able to offer a spectacle of quality at the technical and competitive level, explained Altagracia and Tejeda.
